The date for the club rush is TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH!! It starts at 10:00AM!!
My guess is that it will go from 10-2, like most of the past events.
I'm going down to the ASOCC office today to go and do a bit more research.
Get ready, everyone, here we go again!
This is the time we need to recruit people to the club.
But, what we need is a good eye-catcher. I still have a few things to set up with securing a booth for us, but we need something that will draw people's attention.
(I'm sure all of you remember our tattered posterboard we used before. I say no more!!)
So, we need people to brainstorm ideas!
Do we want something that stretches overhead? Cosplayers? Flyers? Showings on a computer? Music?
People who have access to laptops or speakers (mobile, please, but still fairly loud) and costumes, and would like to have a hand in the club rush, please let us know!!
Wow, I'm so excited! ^^

I really like the whole idea of cosplayers during the rush. People in costume are always good ways to get people's attention. I dunno about any power supply, but if we could get power to the booth, we could have some laptops out or something and play anime music, or even play some anime movies. I dunno what the extent is of our resources.

Also just had another idea.
If you want, we could also show people some of our own drawings of anime.
Show off whatever we can to show how fun the world of anime is.

If anyone is also interested, they could also pull out some mangas and display those.

Let's not overdo it with the cosplay, we don't want to scare people away from our club.
Just saying...

Well, cosplay's actually what got my attention.
I saw Matt as an Akatsuki, and that's what drew me to the booth. Anime fans can easily recognize it. I don't know how many people we're going to introduce to anime, but we also promote a healthy, unique fandom. We may be geeks, but we're easily recognizeable geeks.
Personally, I love dressing up for the events, and I have a new costume to break in. It gets a little bit of attention, since it's not the generic table-and-poster booth. We don't want to blend in, we want our club to stick out.

we should make a big kitty, like the one from azu manga, for their cafe. and have someone in it promoting our club.
. . . it would grab attention. . . maybe a little to much. . . but it would look really cute. . . i like kitties!

Hee hee, that's a cute idea Maricela. You make the cat, and we'll display it. ><
Hmmm, for one of our fundraisers, we could parody one of the "cafes" that they do in some of the animes. Girls (or even boys, going Host Club style) in cute outfits serving our classmates. Granted I'm not the prettiest girl, but even costumes can hide that a little. >< If we offer shade (especially when it gets hot) and something to eat or drink, perhaps it'll pull in a little bit.

That sounds really cool! I think if we also made good sushi, that might sell well. Sushi is fairly popular, ne? I know you and I both know how to make some.

Sushi is good, but will it keep? I like Mari's suggestion for ramune or ice cream. Sometimes they have sales at Mitsuwa on mochi ice cream, we could put them on a tray and give them away individually...though, of course, in that case we'd need a cooler.
Music is also a great idea, since the idea at club rush seems to be "Be as loud and as obnoxious as you want!"
I'm going to suggest what I suggested to steven last semester: We should have a posterboard or one of those science-boards at the table that's decorated, with drawings and pictures of our events. I'd be happy to do it if somebody provided me with photos...
Cosplay, I am also kind of iffy on. It's the mark of a true otaku, and we don't want to alienate anybody. Now I love cosplay just as much as anybody...but it can be very off-putting, even to other anime fans.
Is there going to be a physical meeting to discuss all of this? As it's been said before, it's hard to make definite plans on a forum. ^^;

dana: Sushi? How about something sweet, like pocky? Also, see? Cosplay can be some overwhelming stuff for the anime nerd who isn't used to something so revealing. Also, a Melon Cream soda is fine too.
