Day Trip

This year, I don't have the time or money to invest in a full registration + hotel for AX. Plus, I've got such major issues with the location...anyway.

I still want to go up there for one day, just to check out the dealer's room and go to a panel or two. So I'm trying to make plans to do something like that...anybody interested? We could carpool and such if the group is small.

So far, it's only me and one outside friend, maybe.

yeah,, but the pass price will go up in march so we should have general plan of what we should do ^^;;
I think we are really in the need of having actual meeting to discuss AX & club rush..etc

I definately see where Murae is coming from for this year. I'm kinda running shy on the funding for the full stay myself, and the longer we all wait to decide on this situation, the higher the price for registration will be. It's bad enough they raised the pass prices for this year.

I'd still expect to have a meeting when the semester starts, even if we don't have a room or advisor yet. Just to discuss things with returning members. Anime Expo and Comic Con are going to be major topics.

Muirae, best thing to do is to find out what panels you want to see. There isn't much on the official site, but there's a lot of stuff going around on the forum about some of the activites at AX.

And whatever day you come, you know there'll be a big group going around, and you're definitely welcome to meet up with us.

Yeah, it does seem way early, but AX is getting so huge and bloated these days you need to plan in advance if you want full reg...however, I'm just saying, anyone that's interested in just going up for a day, we could probably all go together.

@ Dana: Yep, yep. There's one panel I see every year, on the last day of con...trouble is, the con only runs for a half-day on the last day, so going on that day would be a little bit of a waste of money. Wow, that was a tongue twister.

Off-topic, what I really want to do this year is look at some of the smaller anime cons in the area (I don't mean like, Japan-expo small, though) there are a few that I know of...the only thing is, it's a longer drive. But there are other conventions out there besides AX.

Well, if you're planning to buy anything, that last day is the best day to go, since all the prices go down. But, if you're just going for the panel, it's your money.

By the way, which panel is it that you want to see?

Seems like there's a group big enough for this to be a worthwhile proposition. We'll have a separate group of 1-day participants, for sure.

Wait, they relocated AX to a crappy area AND raised prices this year!? Sorry guys, but I'm going to have to boycott AX this year.

I agree with Muirae, we should look into other conventions as well. Although, I don't know of any others except for some in Northern CA.

There is comic-con in San Diego, but it is quite expensive, as well.

I was looking into Anime LA for next year, but it's during the winter. It's still a good one to try for, though.

Err..I was hoping to stay away from LA completely. Besides it being dirty and full of crime, its not an easy area to drive in.

so i probaly need a ride for ax it would nice if we could all car pool since we save money on parking so if anyboy up to i beed gladly put for gas and parking money just let me know i try to show up to one of the meeting to digust this or make preparations
