Hi all!
So, recently, I've been getting back to my anime roots. Card Captor Sakura was one of my first, and like many of you I remember watching the crappy dub every Saturday morning. It was also one of my first forays into the world of CLAMP-tastic yaoi subtext, what with the Touya/Yukito, Li/Yukito, Everyone/Yukito. And the pedo-vibes, with Rika/that teacher and Mizuki/Eriol...
...but as a little grade-schooler, I didn't really know any of that stuff at the time. Until recently, I never saw CCS in its entirety. Now that I have, I present to you an intelligent study of the program. I fastidiously screencapped all the important moments I think you'll find interesting. Please enjoy.
---
First, let's start out with our protaginst, a fifth grade girl named Kinomoto Sakura who has magical powers. You see, she's a cardcaptor, and it's her job to 'capture' all the 'cards' that escaped from this book...here she is:
...whoops, that's not her. Let's try again...
Sakura, the epitome of -- aaahh, not yet.
HERE WE ARE! Sakura-chan, the original moe, wouldn't you say? She is adorable, clumsy, insecure, tends to cry, cooks (badly), wears lots of cute outfits:
Um.
Anyway. Uh...these two are in the show as well. The right one is Touya, her older brother, and the grey-haired guy is Yukito, her brother's best friend and Sakura's #1 crush. Their relationship is completely heterosexual.
They're close friends, willing to do anything for each other, ready to lay anything on the line, but that's it! There's absolutely nothing gay about them in any way.
....nope. Nothing. As you can see there's no way you could possibly interpret their relationship as being romantic.
...no....way.
*cough cough*
Uh.
Anyway.
Sakura.
She's the main character. I think.
...but you can probably guess the true reason I love this show so much.
(Disclaimer: It's not the only reason, I swear! I really do love the other parts of the show! I just realized, when looking back at the scenes I had chosen to screencap, 90% of them were of Touya and Yuki. Go figure.)
