I've got mozilla and it's running fine for me right now...so, just try updating quicktime. Sometimes, apple products act funny.

huh,.. os how many people are having trouble with the forum music??
it works just fine for me in both IE and firefox ^^;;
it's not quicktime player but windows media player

if you are using IE, you can press ESC and it'll play next music available, but if you want to turn it off, press ESC several times and it'll turn off when the music runs out ^^;;
EDIT: Or just scrolling down to to the end of the page and mute the sound
