Ugh, I was up till 11pm the other night and ended up staying awake the whole night and going to work at kohls at 6am. God, it was hell working there. The managers are annoying as hell, and the most exciting thing to do there is sweep the floor. I really need to hurry up and get my Electronics Maintenance Certificate from OCC so I can go get a job as an electronics assembler (which is supposed to be around $12 an hour). Maybe I'll just hide on the 3rd floor tommorrow and play DS for a while.
PS: Am I the only one who posts on the forum during the middle of the night?

I post at late hours too, but I always feel bad about it...like, I don't know why, but I do... Uhh...I really can't relate though, I love my job right now. Except, yesterday I had to clean up little kid pee...that was kinda gross. Apparently it's like a secret initation rite though, because everyone else who works there has done it at least once. The only bad thing I guess is we get the occasional rich snooty customer who is a pain to deal with. But, most of them are ok.

I guess it can get a little awkward, seeing as how being on the computer in the middle of the night posting on an anime forum tends to be frowned upon in america. But I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you don't tell people, noone will ever know!
Funny you mention little kid pee. Today, 2 plops of poop mysteriously appeared on the floor near customer service. I'm sure glad I didn't have to clean it up. I know we get a lot of crappy people at customer service, but this is just ridiculous!
Don't worry, as long as its a class like english or math that you will never use. In fact, I would encourage it!

NNNOOOOOOO!!! DON'T DO IT!! Work sucks and it can get very stressful. And once you get your paycheck, it is never enough to buy anything. The only reason I go to work now is because my dad makes me pay for my own car insurance and gas, which I need to get to OCC. If the stupid district would stop dividing the classes between colleges, I would be able to just walk to GWC.

The money you make on the job can pay for the anime/manga you need to buy. But the therapy of having a retail job will set you back later on in life.
The stories I could tell you of the retail jobs I've had.

I'm kinda surprised I'm working at Kohls, after all the crap that happened at circuit shitty. I dunno about careers, but I do know that retail is hell, unless you take advantage of the system. I found a nice vacant spot in the back corner of the 3rd floor (stockroom) that even has a nice chair to lay back in! I'll just have to remember my DS. If I get fired, oh well. It's better than getting laid off.

It must just be different for an independently-owned store. I've had my fair share of weird/bad stories, but overall it's not anything like I expected the retail experience to be.
Maybe I'm just happy because it's a HUGE step up from being a bagger (aka, slaveperson) in a grocery store.

HAHHA well try working at HOME DEPOT (where you can do it and we can help) Eh its actually not that bad if you can handle the managers with god complexes and the bitch customers... *sigh*The job would be great if it wasn't for the fucking customers :/

I out lasted managers at the Homedepot that I worked at for 2 years. When I left (quit), I had over hundred hours of sick time built up and I never had a chance to use it. The district manager wouldn't talk to you unless you were a team leader or above. And the merit badges mean nothing (if they still have those). All the corporate promotion material about being a team player is BS. The primary goal of any major retailer is to make money and thats it. They don't care about the employee or the community the store resides in.
Ok, thats as far as I'll go for a rant about Homedepot. (calming down now)

YES! That's EXACTLY the problem with american corporations! But there is a good side to it, if you know what you're doing: leave on the clock. It doesn't work so great at kohls because everyone harrasses you constantly, but it would've worked great at circuit shitty where even the employees didn't know I worked there. I may actually consider working at home depot if something goes wrong with my job search for an electronics job. I've probably been fired from kohls by now since I stopped showing up to work. Getting up at 4:30am after having night classes is just way too hard. So about the bitch managers: how often do they bug you? Are they aware of your existence? Oh, and how's the pay? Reading books at barnes & noble is worth more to me than minimum wage.
About the store credit: I make arcade sticks occasionally and $50 would be good for plexiglass (if they even have the right sizes), wood, screws, etc. lol, its funny because I had a conversation about this recently on an IRC channel, except it was about "what to buy at target", since I had a $15 gift card. I'm still wondering what to buy to this day...

i guess im the only ok with my work. The manager is cool, and i haven't had a bad experience yet. The only thing i dont like is when people go in to get a part and they have no idea what they want.
Yay, work tomorrow!
